Covid-19 Vaccination at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital

WHO has proven Covid-19 Vaccination as the best preventive measure to curb the spread of Covid-19. Covid-19 has been a serious pandemic that has continuously consumed the lives of people globally since January 2020.

Since mid-September, the Ministry of Health (U), emphasized Mass vaccination in different health facilities and Regional Hospitals.

Dr Celestine Barigye, the Hospital Director said they are seeing a large turnout of people at the vaccination centre. The hospital made this evaluation on 15th October 2021 at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital.

“We started this activity yesterday 15th. In the next five days, we shall be able to have attended to all these clients. But, with the response that we are seeing, we are estimating that we should be able to even exceed that. And the beauty is, vaccines are there and, we should be able to give the services to the people.

The following are the available vaccination sites in Mbarara City and Mbarara District at large

Buzibwera HC IV

The activity is raising hope that authorities will lift the restrictions on schools, public transportation and religious institutions. The Government of Uganda imposed these restrictions in June 2021 amid a new wave of coronavirus cases.

Minister of Education said that schools could reopen if we vaccinate all children between the ages of 12 and 18.

Some of the secondary school students do not expect to see institutions reopen any time soon. But with the community embracing the activity, we believe everything will come positive.

The Ministry of Health says that there would be a need to vaccinate about 7M children before classes can resume.

The vaccination is still going on, and we inform the public to come and take their JAB.
